WELLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
Established in 1886, Wellington High School is the only co-educational school in central Wellington. We have 1284 students and a well established International Programme catering for 70+ students from Year 9 - 13 (13 - 18 years old). Our high expectations and inspiring, collaborative classrooms promote resilience and learners who are passionate about making the world a better place.
KEY FIGURES AT A GLANCE
We are a vibrant, innovative and diverse school that does not have a school uniform and where students are known for their acceptance of difference, and their respect for others. Our Vietnamese students are valued as great contributors to the academic, sporting and cultural spheres of the school. They thrive with the wide subject choice, and our strength in technology, science, music, art and design prepares them well for university in New Zealand and elsewhere.
NGAN VO THANH (BELLA)
Student
I was lucky enough to learn from intelligent teachers and be welcomed by such a friendly study environment that WHS provided. It was a great place where you could try new things everyday, as teachers would show the best support that you need. Thanks to WHS, I was able to achieve many goals and get ready for my future plans. Furthermore, since WHS provided a culturally diverse environment where everyone can express themselves, I had a great time discovering my abilities and not being afraid to be different.
